Privacy policy

Information we collect

• Account and profile: your email address, account identifier, signup date, chosen username, and optional profile picture. Password authentication is handled through Supabase. Use a nickname rather than your real name.
• Study activity: answers, scores, flashcard ratings, confidence selections, question timing, goals, streaks, XP, saved positions, and test history. FRQ submissions can include text, uploaded images, and drawings.
• Service activity: signed-in activity dates in UTC and counts of AI requests, including saved failed requests and revisions. Activity dates support daily and monthly active-member totals. We do not record total time on the website or page-by-page browsing history for that reporting.
• Support: messages and question reports you choose to send, together with the account or contact information needed to respond.

Our hosting and authentication providers may also process technical information, such as IP addresses and request logs, to deliver and secure their services.

How your information is used

We use this information to sign you in, restore progress across devices, schedule reviews, calculate learning statistics and leaderboards, grade submissions, answer support requests, fix problems, prevent abuse, and enforce per-account AI allowances. ScienceHub does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

What other people can see

Signed-in members can see your username, optional profile picture, XP, and leaderboard placement. Your email and personal study reports are not displayed on the leaderboard.

Authorized ScienceHub administrators can see registered accounts and their usernames/emails, individual AI-request counts, aggregate daily and monthly active-member statistics, and submitted issue reports. The administrative usage dashboard does not display your answers, scores, confidence ratings, question timing, private goals, or tutoring conversation. A support message or issue report may reveal information you include in it. Technical administration may require access to stored records to resolve a specific problem or deletion request.

AI features and service providers

AI features are optional. When you request AI help or grading, ScienceHub sends the relevant question and your submitted response to OpenAI. This can include the recent tutoring conversation, drawings or uploaded images, and test answers/statistics needed for coaching. Do not include sensitive personal information in these submissions. AI feedback can be incorrect and is intended for practice.

ScienceHub saves FRQ grades and test evaluations so you can reopen them. Practice-chat text stays in your browser between requests; ScienceHub’s administrative usage records contain request counts rather than chat transcripts. Requests are configured with storage disabled in the OpenAI API, but provider security and abuse-monitoring policies can still apply.

Supabase provides account authentication. The site and its application records are hosted through OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare. External resources, including College Board documents, OpenStax sources, and Desmos tools, are governed by their providers’ policies when you open or use them. These services may process information in countries other than your own.

Cookies and browser storage

Essential secure cookies maintain your session. Browser storage keeps settings, backup drafts, review information, and local practice-chat history. Clearing browser storage can remove unsynced work. Sign out on shared devices; deleting browser data does not delete saved account records.

Your choices and retention

You can change your username, remove your profile picture, reset study progress, and delete completed unit-test or full-exam reports using the website. Resetting progress is a fresh-start operation; it does not erase historical records, past reports, or AI-request counts. Deleting a test report does not reverse earned progress or erase quota records.

Account and learning records remain stored while needed to provide the service or until removed following a deletion request. Limited records may need to remain for security, abuse prevention, legal obligations, or provider backups. We do not promise that an in-app reset removes every stored copy.

You may request access, correction, export, or deletion of your account information. We may need to verify that the request comes from the account holder. Available rights can depend on where you live.

Younger students

ScienceHub is intended for students aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly offer accounts to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.

Security and updates

We use encrypted connections, account checks, restricted administrative access, and server-side handling of private API credentials. No online service can guarantee perfect security. If our practices change materially, we will update this policy and its date, and provide additional notice where required.
